@hob is that the correct term? I use a Kenwood at home. But I'm at my parent's rn and using a Kitchenaid mixer to bake some Hefezopf 😃

hat are you using? and why is everyone buying these overpriced fancy looking Kitchenaid thingies? It's such a big difference to my own mixer but the pricetags were almost the same 💸💸💸

@Julia_Schmeer I’m using an Ankararum Assistent. The best mixer for bread and other heavy doughs. It was very expensive but totally worth it.

It’s a bit too large when I bake a small bread though, I have to help it to pick up the dough then. 😅

@toni same problem with my Kenwood, but I could (*ahem*) adjust the kneading hook thing. Of course these machines are expensive and not everyone thinks they need one but why paying so much money and NOT getting these kind of monsters the two of us have in our kitchens?? The kitchenaid feels almost flimsy in comparison.

@Julia_Schmeer @toni what model of Kitchenaid is it? Ours used to feel a bit wobbly, but tightening just a single screw fixed that completely.

@Julia_Schmeer @toni also, I don’t know about the other brands, but KitchenAids are electrically and mechanically very simple, so they’re easy to fix with just a few tools and cheap spare parts.
In fact, it’s very easy to get a „broken“ KitchenAid for a lot less than full retail price, and they almost always break in one way: A 5€ gear that’s designed to break in case of too-high load, which took me about 2h to change (with no practice).

@T045T that's great to know 👀 thanks for sharing!! My husband said a similar thing pro Kitchenaid back then, when I wanted to purchase a kitchen machine

@Julia_Schmeer I must admit that the KitchenAid has its drawbacks though. It struggles with dough that’s too hard, and it starts up pretty abruptly, so if you’re not careful you get an eruption of flour :D
